Some zombies/demons are best tackled by hitting them and then stepping through them. If you time it correctly, you'll avoid getting hit, can move back to hit them again, and repeat, without them moving toward your gate at all. Just step through a little past where they hit and you should easily kill the guardian.

That's the plan. I just went through a few levels of health after figuring the massive increase in cost would drop off, and as you noted, it's now 5 gems per upgrade: 2500, 40 gems 3000, 60 gems 3500, 80 gems 3675, 5 gems 3850, 5 gems

I'm not sure it would be worth it to get the assassins at present. I went up against a guy with level 11 assassins in multiplayer and they did no damage to me (I haven't massively upgraded my characters or anything, and this was on my samurai, so no damage blocked as far as I know).

Ugh...disappointing results as I already started upgrading the horse archer (and also found the quick movement speed to be a negative in certain situations). The quick shooting is nice, but max damage doesn't seem that great, especially since the horse master doesn't provide that much additional damage. Has anyone maxed…

Complete collections from cheapest to most expensive in terms of souls. If someone attacks and gets an artifact while you're trying to complete a row and you lose when defending, you won't need to pick up as many souls to try to pick up that artifact again. Use assassins if you have them. They're as cheap as farmers and will speed up the fight quite a bit. If you don't have them, stick with farmers but ensure you include a ranged ally in your mix to help speed up the fight.

Add a way to purchase revives for coins (100k, 250k, 1 mil, whatever) and the problem is solved.
