Over the course of the last five years, Racing Rivals has grown into one of the most hardcore racing games in the world. This loyal community has spent countless hours competing in millions of races in “winner take all” fashion – all in the name of Turf Wars and pink slips.
However, all good things must come to an end… After spending time evaluating Rivals and its future – we’ve decided that it’s time to move on. Simply put, the revenue generated from Racing Rivals unfortunately no longer covers the cost of operations. This was not an easy decision to make.
On March 31st, 2019 – Rivals will be racing off into the sunset, and will be permanently shut down. Current players have until this date to utilize any accumulated virtual currency. We’ll be offering some massive reductions in the cost of crates, installs and repairs in addition to a reduction on timers as you race your way into the history books. Effective immediately, no new in-app purchases will be permitted.
In closing, a resounding and sincere THANK YOU to our extremely driven fans for your loyalty and dedication over the years – we hope you’ve enjoyed playing Racing Rivals as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.

Also - I don't "always" say they aren't liable. That, and there is a drastic difference between constructive criticism, and suggesting that a company is knowingly providing a platform that allows illegal activities to transpire on said platform, and is doing nothing about it. I'm sorry, but I can't support that sentiment simply because I know that it's not true.
Lastly, I've taken on the position of a Mod on this forum. Of course I'm going to support / back Glu until there is a justifiable, verifiable reason NOT to support them. Rest assured, should that day ever come (that I don't agree with business practices or anything of the sort), I will resign from this position.

IF someone has inappropriate avatars, go ahead and use the report function.
SHOULD someone actually send underage photos, its best to actually report them to authorities. We will absolutely help if called upon.
Other than that, not much we can do.

Currently we dont have the bandwidth to monitor several hundred thousand chat messages a day, and no in game mod would be able to keep up either, its also a very slow manual process that way.
We could develop a super solid chat/curse filter, but we all know people would f.i.n.d.w.a.y.s.a.r.o.u.n.d.i.t so ultimately that doesn't solve the problem.
We could ban users who misuse chat permanently, and in most cases the ones we find we do, but again, see my manual point.
We could remove image based player avatars, that would solve much of the issue there, but at the cost of everyone who doesn't engage in this behavior having a worse experience.
The same logic as above applies to just ripping out chat completely, if we do that we solve the problem (kinda, since these people will just private message/lobby chat the same smut) but at the cost of anyone who uses Global Chat for legitimate reasons. All this really does is reduce the amount YOU see, not the amount we see. So technically it wouldn't solve the core issue you are all rightly upset about.
Before I get into ways to "fix" this, I will say that we take these cases very seriously and everyone we get we deal with accordingly.
So, lets talk about options.
1. I'd like to create the ability to tap a users name/profile in global chat and from there mute them/report them. This creates a typing of modding on a personal level, you control who you do and dont see. This again makes chat look "nicer" just for the individual, but hopefully by reporting often you help us clean them all out.
2. Remove Global Chat completely. I disagree with this. The issue isnt the ability to talk to anyone, the issue is not being able to control who talks back to you. Again the base idea of the future I see working very well. People looking for teams, talking about cars, trades, etc. That was the intended point of the system, just unfortunate that the underbelly comes with it, like most chat systems,
3.Remove functionality to stop the wicked. This would mean taking out photo based avatars as a an option, removing global chat, Enacting soft bans based off report amount (which means griefing comes into effect), As well as removing Lobby Chat (we wanna get rid of them right?). This is a hammer in a glass house solution and not something I would ever do, but i put it here to show you the true ask. This is the only way that "gets them out of the game" but it costs everyone else dearly.
I think the clear solution here is option 1. It allows you to self filter, and ideally with faster reporting action we can begin to trim more on our side, just remember its a big Ocean.
