@soundspretty i dont agree with most of her ideals but i also dont trust the government and whats going on in china. its all very fishy to me
True. I'm sure there are things that we don't know and we aren't being told the full story. I just don't like seeing people downplay it, especially when they are politically motivated and in league with someone who just a few weeks ago was claiming this was all a hoax. It's ok to think we're missing something important as long as we aren't downplaying that this isn't a severe issue that is affecting millions of people.

it wasnt my intention to downplay the virus and its effects on us. im completely aware of its severity but when you sit at home all day and hear nothing else besides bad news including the fact that now the united states(my country) has the most cases than any other country it is so easy to see something on tv or on the internet that is remotely “good” and run with it. we are desperate for good news or anything to ease us. although, it was my fault for posting a controversial statement from an even more controversial person, im sure you and everyone else can relate to just wanting to hear some good news.

If the person was the president 💁🏾‍♀️ then i would hope someone would use a better source of information then that man.

this is a very real pandemic. We are all affected. We started two threads, one for the hard cold posts about this horrible epidemic, and enough where people can post positivity, and escape the hard cold facts of this thread.  Here, when someone says there’s no bread, we empathize and relate our own takes. It is very hard. And as an optimistic Gemini+ I’ve stayed out of this thread because it’s hard to see all the bad news without breaking.
Don;t feel bad, I came back from a doctor 2 weeks ago and shared positive news from them.  I felt the same backlash. And see now their timeline wasn’t all that accurate.   Dont apologize for sharing your feelings, just understand that this thread is more of the harsh reality we’re living through.

I would hope ppl are taking this serious. Please dont put others at risk to provide any points. We must protect each other and help stop the spread of this.

thank you for this post. i knew i didn’t want to get involved in this thread from the beginning. you have to tread very lightly on this forum. not sure why i decided to post here today. thanks again for the reassurance i appreciate it.

Its not about treading its about knowing what your talking about. Much less a supporter of a dude who called this virus a hoax.  All too often ppl insert themselves in things they didnt even research properly about.

Is anyone else having trouble finding pet food 😱 I didn't even consider this could be something that people are hoarding but my mom stated she can't find her brand of cat food in stock and I have an auto ship set up for my dog's food and it's been delayed until mid-April.

@soundspretty not where I live. Some places are actually leaving pet food outside their stores so that people can use it to feed stray dogs or to feed their pets as many people are not working anymore and cannot afford it

That's so nice. Meanwhile I'm pretty sure my neighbor took a picture of me driving home from work yesterday 😭 It does say the dog food is in stock so maybe they're just pushing out shipping dates because of the influx of orders. I wouldn't worry about it too much but one of my dogs has tummy issues so I have to be careful about what food she gets or else she'll get sick.

I did make a quick stop at the grocery store yesterday to pick up a few things and it looked MUCH better. Some items are still out of stock but it didn't feel as hopeless as 3 weeks ago.

I hate the lack of privacy. People think they’re allowed to take pictures of people in the streets when they don’t even know WHY they are outside. That is totally wrong!

edit: For instance, jogging is not allowed where I live. So if you see someone do something that is not allowed then just call the cops/report it! But publishing photos online is wrong. And it doesn’t make sense anyway.

I wanted to share that since New Zealand has been in quarantine conditions and my gym has been closed, I've been going for runs in my local park instead. I'm gonna post a couple of photos I've taken today and in the last few days.

I could be wrong is that Te mata peak? I love hiking there!!! ❤️

@Chooky1116 No unfortunately I've never been there, it looks amazing! This is just a wee park in Wellington down the Ngaio gorge (Trelissick Park if you want to google it lol)
It looks so similar! So beautiful will google now ☺️

Yeah, same here in France (the lack of privacy). And also the lack of kindness, the virus does not prevent you from saying hello, even from one meter!! It's mostly old men who do not say hello anymore....

Regarding going out, I live right on the seaside and my county has forbidden access to beaches (which I get, people were still surfing...) and coastal paths. At the beginning it was allowed for people who lived really nearby, and then it was forbidden for everyone.
With my mom we used to walk very actively and we can't do that anymore, or we have to do it on the road, which is not good for my tendons, going towards old people's houses!
My neighbourhood is mostly old people with little access to internet so they don't know about this regulation, so a lot of them were given fines... and I know for a fact that one of them is calling the cops regularly on people going out for a walk, a jog or their dogs... She's a piece of work even without the pandemic so this doesn't surprise me at all!!

One of the mayors in the metro area said they might start enforcing the stay at home order because over the weekend there were so many people at parks and kids playing on equipment with no concern for social distancing. They also closed all the state parks across the state line because people were flocking to them. It's just really frustrating because the midwest hasn't hit the peak of this pandemic yet (they're predicting around the 20th) and people keep being dumb. We're not getting out of this anytime soon and businesses can't reopen when people prove a point that they can't sit their butts at home and only go out when they need to.

Petsmart is offering curbside pickup in my area thankfully, so I stocked up on kitty food this weekend! Just order online and call the store when you arrive.

Reading some posts here it amazes me how people all over the world are not taking things seriously and are not respecting social distancing or the stay at home recommendations. It's the same in my country but I thought other countries would be different. It just makes me mad and worried. Where I live, schools are closed and people are taking them to the park or to the market without any precautions, it's so upsetting

So many people in the UK aren’t taking this seriously enough and it’s doing my head in. ‘Outside exercising’ may now be banned because people are still going out in groups and treating the nice weather we’ve had this weekend as if it’s a summer holiday. Too many people still aren’t social distancing and the death toll is rising.
I’m classed as ‘high risk’ because I have asthma so I haven’t left my house for about a month now. The longer people keep acting like this will just blow over, the longer we’ll have to stay inside!! I’m so mad at how a lot of people are going about this 😤

I couldn't agree more @HannahKKH, even though I'm not from the UK, the situation here in Paris is getting ridiculous as well.

A ray of sunshine is enough for some people to go outside like there isn't a global pandemic right now... 😑

@Loveflower01 yep I’m in with you. I have muscular dystrophy so I’ve been in since mid-March apart from sitting in the garden for a few minutes here and there. Mostly sitting with windows open. Really getting fed up of people acting like there’s nothing going on and just treating it like a holiday. @HannahKKH I’m in UK too it’s so frustrating the way people are behaving. I just wish people would realise and start behaving appropriately so that it doesn’t go on forever.

I have an autoimmune disorder, but my family doctor AND my specialist said it was still important to get outside for fresh air and exercise.
They said to obviously be extra cautious and respect social distancing, but that staying indoors all the time is also not the best for us.
I understand, there are those who aren’t respecting these things, but I also hate that I feel judged for wanting to walk around my neighbourhood in the evenings. I also headed to the mountains for a hike in the early days before the parks were closed and only saw a couple other people. I personally don’t see the harm in going for a walk as long as you are being cautious and mindful of yourself and others.
(Here in Canada we are not on full
lockdown like Spain and Italy.) but I guess it’s the few that ruin it for the rest. 😓

@thallisa totally. I do agree. It’s hard to gauge anything with the incubation period being so long. It really takes at least 10 days to see the effects of the things we are changing.

My family is also in Spain, though they are on an island which reportedly only has one case. But still in complete lockdown. I am glad to hear that numbers are getting better.  Over here, we need to be better benchmarking with the European countries that are weeks ahead of us in the virus.

@thallisa In my country as the cases started piling up the government made a decision that people have to wear a mask and gloves when they're outside. Many sources have been telling us that the virus can stay in air for about 2 hours but that you would need a looooot of drops of virus in the air to catch it. When it stops hanging out in the air it does not disappear but instead, because of simple gravity, it falls down (on furniture, metal, plastic, etc). Then it will stay there for a while and disappear because it does not have a host to live in. However, wearing masks for a long time can do more harm than good. A simple surgical mask should be used one time and thrown away (since it is a one use mask, everything that stays on it(potential bad stuff), stays on it literally and if you are using it for a long time then you just start breathing it in). A cotton home made mask (what I'm using) is not that good as special masks and should be washed right after use on a high temperature. I believe masks are good, as long as you take care of how you wear them. For example, a sick person goes to the store, doesn't have a mask, talks with someone and a little of spit comes out because that can just naturally happen when you talk (a little amount did not spread that much in the air but if he was standing real close to someone else, he could have potentially infected him if the amount was big enough). Kissing or hand shaking with a person who is sick, did not wash their hands and coughed into them would definitely do more harm than just talking to the person. Then he sneezes in the market without covering his face and all of those droplets now exited making a super fast and big explosion in the air and a lot more people in his range are exposed. Wearing a mask or covering the face when coughing/sneezing will do a lot to prevent the spreading. That is why there is a rule that there must be a 1,5 m of distance between people always (in my country). An open sneeze can cover a lot more meters tho. 🤷‍♀️
Medical staff is on the first line, they have the most contact with sick people, the biggest exposure to the virus and they don't have a lot of equipment so unfortunately they are really vulnerable.
