I came to just expect to not get free gems. If you get one, you're lucky. Free gems = less money to Glu (although some forget it gains stronger followers who would in the future be more likely to spend money).

Kalinda, my krew found that even with all members finishing their parts, a lot of parties couldn't achieve 5 stars (especially near the end of the event). I was so close (25pts!) to getting the hair, but this glitch meant a lot of parties finished on 4.something stars. Did anyone else have this issue?

^That's what happened to me too!! I don't understand how they can blame it on something that didn't happen at the time (my wifi is fine, and I have 18gb of free space on my phone), and refuse to give it, even with a screenshot as proof that I received the item in a box. It's so dodgy...

"Last played/logged in ##mins/hrs ago" is a feature in other big games that'd be really useful for krews here. So many times it's difficult to tell if someone isn't active or just logging on at different times.
I'm a lot happier with how this event is going. Much more friendly for budget users with earnable items & the option to go further for those who do spend money. I've gotten a dress & two tops so far, but I can't wait for the hair:)
